CIDB Regulations on Adjudication

The Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) Construction Industry Development Amendment Regulations, 2015 (Prompt Payment Regulations and Adjudication Standard) appeared on Friday 29 May 2015 in the Government Gazette Notice 482 of 2015 and are open for public comment for 60 days until 29 July 2015.

INVITATION TO OPEN DIALOGUE WORKSHOP 

Proposed CIDB regulations governing prompt payment processes and dispute management in respect of construction works contracts and construction works related contracts are expected to profoundly change certain facets of South African construction industry practice.
 
ICE-SA together with the Construction Adjudicators Association of South Africa are facilitating an open workshop between industry stakeholders to review the proposed draft regulations. The workshop will:
  • a comparative overview of similar legislation in several other jurisdictions,
  • and consider the mechanics of the proposed regulations and
  • stimulate dialogue between industry stakeholders on their concerns, views and expectations surrounding the proposed legislations.
 
The workshop will take place on 09 July 2015 at Midrand Conference Centre. Registration will be from 09:00 to 09:30 and proceedings from 09:30 to 13:00.
 
Proceedings will be facilitated by Mr. Vaughan Hattingh and Mr. Euan Massey of MDA Consulting (Pty) Ltd and guest speakers will include Prof. Tinus Maritz (Head of Department of Construction Economics at the University of Pretoria).
 
This event is by invitation only, to ensure that inputs are obtained from experienced and seasoned practitioners in the construction industry, with specific interest in Adjudication as the preferred form of dispute resolution. Enquiries can be addressed to secretary@ice-sa.org.za
