It is JSD Monthly Meeting time again.
We will be getting together at the regular venue, the National Military History Museum, Saxonwold on Tuesday 20th July 2010. We meet at 16.00 hrs for a cup of tea or coffee followed by the talk starting at about 16.30. The talk will be followed by refreshments and a time to network with peers. We plan to finish sometime between 18.00 and 18.30 hrs.
Topic: The behaviour and design of long tubular columns with pre-tensioned external stays
Presenter: Dr. Ahmer Wadee, Senior Lecturer, Dept of Civil Engineering, Imperial College London.
Dr. Ahmer Wadee will speak on the research subject they are busy with at the moment which is the design process for designing pre-stress of large bore long tubular columns with external pre-stressing members connected to the column (reducing the buckling length).
Dr. Wadee is currently a visiting academic in the Department of Environmental and Civil Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand.
We offer CPD points on qualifying lectures. But forget the points – come along and enjoy the learning opportunity and the networking with your professional peers.
